The ASU Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a dynamic evening of music. Join us as the Wind Symphony teams up with ASU Dance to present Eugenio Toussaint’s Dias de los Muertos originally commissioned by the Phoenix Symphony and Ballet Arizona. The Wind Ensemble will share the stage with Grupo BombAZo and also present works by Carlos Chávez, Alberto Ginastera, Rafael Méndez, and Genaro Codina.

The ASU Chamber Winds are an invited performer at the College Band Directors National Association Western/Northwestern Division Conference. The ensemble, comprised of 10 student musicians, are performing music by Mozart, Milhaud and Piazzolla and two works by Bologne, one world premiere and one Washington premiere. The ensemble was selected through peer-review to perform at the conference. Jason Caslor, associate professor and director of bands, and Jamal Duncan, assistant professor, are conducting. The students will have the opportunity to attend various lectures, workshops and performances at the conference.

ASU Wind Bands have chosen to go virtual for at least the first part of the 2020-21 season!

The various ensembles will be recording works by Nicole Piunno, Kevin Day, Cait Nishimura Pete Meechan, Marc Mellits, Igor Stravinsky, and new works by ASU composers. We are also commissioning new works by Steven Bryant, Kevin Day, and Allan Daleus.

The groups recorded over 60 works, connected with over 20 guests artists, collaborated with 17 ASU student composers.
