Faculty positions

The School of Music, Dance and Theatre music program on the Tempe campus at Arizona State University invites applications for Faculty Associates to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses online and/or on-campus in dance movement practices, dance education, and/or dance scholarship.The number of courses is contingent upon needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment.  Individuals hired as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits-eligible appointments at Arizona State University. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load.These positions are one semester appointments, part time, non-benefits eligible with no tenure implications. A typical Faculty Associate course load is one to two classes per semester. Teaching duties include preparing course materials, responding to and evaluating student work, and availability for one-on-one assistance (via weekly office hours for on-campus classes and electronically for online classes).  Essential Duties:Prepare and deliver course content, including lectures, readings, discussions, exercises, critiques and other teaching activities in accordance with the approved syllabus and academic standards.Evaluate student work and provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments and assessments.Assist students through office hours, seminars, or online forums.Support course administration as needed (e.g., syllabus preparation, coordination with teaching assistants, keeping accurate course records).Teach in one or more of the following modalities: in person or online. Working Environment:The successful candidate(s) will teach in-person or online courses:Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled classroom setting subject to extended periods of standing, lecturing, facilitating classroom activitiesFrequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform workOccasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 poundsOccasional activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflictsClearly communicate to perform essential functionsRegular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals Anticipated start date is: Spring 2026, session A, B and/or C
