Job description:
The School of Music, Dance and Theatre at Arizona State University seeks a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor in Music Production and Electronic Performance with a start date of spring 2023. This is a full-time, fixed term position for a candidate to teach multiple levels of music production and technology as well as electronic music performance. The position has both a teaching and service requirement with an approximate start date of January 1, 2023. This position will be located in the school’s downtown Phoenix facility and on the Tempe campus.
We seek an innovative individual who will participate in and further our effort to reimagine what arts education means in the 21st century. The candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching with the ability to provide instruction at the undergraduate level in-person, hybrid and online formats, to build music curriculum for multiple modalities, and to work effectively with faculty colleagues and administration in service to advance the mission of the ASU School of Music, Dance and Theatre.

Required qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to foster the educational and cultural needs of all ASU students who study popular music, and to advance equity, diversity and inclusion in the field.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence and innovation in music production.
- Demonstrated performance experience in the electronic music field, including fluency with synthesizers, samplers, controllers, hardware and software tools, visuals, lighting, and connected systems.
- Master’s degree in Music or related field, or commensurate experience; a graduate degree is required for international candidates.
Desired qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in sound design and music composition using both software and hardware tools such as synthesizers, modular synthesizers, drum machines, samplers, PA’s, interfaces and other associated tools.
- Competence in electronic music composition, production and performance
- Proficiency in related Digital Audio Workstations and software suites including Logic Pro, Ableton Live, ProTools, MAX/MSP, Pure Data, VCV Rack.
- Demonstrated expertise in multi-media and interactive-media tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Arduino, Raspberry Pi.
- Demonstrated expertise in computer programing languages including Python, Max, Java, JavaScript, C++, SQL.
