Job description:

 The School of Music, Dance and Theatre in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University invites applications for multiple part-time Faculty Associate positions to teach in the Popular Music program for the fall 2023 semester.

The successful candidate(s) will teach in-person or online courses, prepare course materials, evaluate student work, and assist students. Faculty Associate positions are one semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed 0.40 FTE. The number of courses is contingent upon needs, funding and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University.

Required qualifications:

 

  • BM or BA in related fields, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 6+ years of industry experience OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired qualifications:

 

  • Professional experience in the specific course subject/material as listed 
  • Experience of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate and graduate level
  • Knowledge of local and regional disciplinary ecosystem
  • Multi-disciplinary professional - experience in other or adjacent parts of the music industry are a plus. 
  • Demonstrated experience developing curricula
  • Creative Activity/Scholarly research interests and achievement as demonstrated through performances, presentations and/or publications
