Theatre scene shop

The state of the art theatre scene shop is located within the Nelson Fine Arts Center. It is equipped for 3-D printing, laser cutting and welding. It has a full-sized paint frame and lots of other cutting-edge digital design and fabrication technologies. The shop opens up to the Galvin Stage looking out into the 485-seat house. In the scene shop, students work as technical directors, welders, carpenters, painters and charge artists from their first semester; our productions are entirely student built and most often student designed. Students experience one-on-one mentorship with working artists in every design and technical discipline from lighting to costumes to media and beyond. They also have the opportunity to work on designs for dance as well asl music theatre and opera.
