Dance admissions festival

Experience dance at ASU.

Attendance at a Saturday dance admissions festival day is required for admission into the BFA in Dance or Dance Education programs.

Spring 2024 Dance Admission Festival: Nov. 2–4, 2023

• For coursework starting in January 2024
• Optional class experiences: Thursday, Nov. 2 and Friday, Nov. 3
• Required event: Saturday, Nov. 4.  |  8:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.

Fall 2024 Dance Admission Festival: Feb. 8–10, 2024

• For coursework starting in August 2024
• Optional class experiences: Thursday, Feb. 8 and Friday, Feb. 9
• Required event: Saturday, Feb. 10  |  8:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.

• Thursday and Friday (optional):
  • Experience a majors-level class in person or virtually: After receiving a confirmation email, you can choose from a menu of classes to attend on Thursday and Friday. Classes may include contemporary ballet, somatic practices, Afro-Latin movement practices, creative practices, hip-hop, postmodern contemporary, dancing histories, improvisation, choreographic prompts, social and partnering, collaborative work and discussion. Applicants should come prepared ready to engage in classes, but do not need to prepare anything in advance.
• Saturday (required):
  • Introductions and community engagement: An interactive event where you will meet the director and dance faculty. Be prepared to introduce yourself and engage in movement.
  • Current student performances and Q+A session
  • Dance facilities tour
• Attend dance events (optional): During the dance admissions festival days, prospective students are encouraged to attend our current dance productions and see students on stage.
  Please note: Dress comfortably for dance admissions festival days.

Virtually via Zoom

Out-of-state applicants are welcome to attend via Zoom. If you are unable to attend one of the scheduled Saturday sessions, a final virtual option via Zoom may be available to you as well on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024. Contact MDT Admission for assistance or further questions.
