Open to high school students and transfer students. Sessions will include, but are not limited to:
- Welcome meeting and recital.
- Music theory and musicology lectures.
- Tour of music facilities.
- Breakout sessions for Music Therapy and Music Learning and Teaching.
- Breakout sessions for orchestra, band, choir and jazz ensembles.
- Question and answer session with faculty and current ASU students.

The Middle School Honor Experience will include choir, string orchestra, and band.

ASU High School Honor Band Festival
Friday, Jan.8 - Sunday, Jan. 10, 2027
ASU is excited to host our inaugural High School Honor Band Festival from January 8-10, 2027. High school students from across the state and region are invited to submit applications. The festival will run on the evening of January 8 and on January 9 and 10.
Students selected for the Honor Band will participate in and receive the following:
- Two days of rehearsal culminating in a performance at the historic ASU Gammage Auditorium.
- Small-group masterclasses given by ASU faculty and graduate students.
- Commemorative t-shirt
- Dinner on Saturday and Lunch on Sunday
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Interested students will fill out an application and submit an audition recording for consideration. Audition packets/requirements will be listed at the bottom of this page. Students should upload audition videos to a Google Drive or an unlisted YouTube video, then share the link when prompted at the end of the application form. If you are sharing videos via Google Drive, please make sure permissions are adjusted so anyone with the link may view the videos.
*Application Deadline and Fee Information
- Nov. 2, 2026: Link opens to apply and submit recordings.
- Nov. 13, 2026: Application link closes
- Nov. 16, 2026: Students notified of acceptance
- Dec. 1, 2026: Students receive chair placements and assignments
All accepted students will be charged a $100.00 fee for participation

*All flute players interested in piccolo should record both submissions to be considered.

*In lieu of a chromatic scale, percussionists should record all three etudes.

Honor Band Concert
(ASU Gammage Stage)
For ASU Gammage ticketed events, tickets are available for $15 at the ASU Gammage Box Office or can be purchased online at Ticketmaster (fees apply). All students with an ASU, college or school ID receive one complimentary ticket and all Herberger Institute faculty and staff receive two complimentary tickets. Complimentary tickets can be picked up at the box office prior to the event and during all normal business hours.
All Herberger Institute students, faculty and staff and Mirabella residents are eligible for complimentary tickets to most events ticketed through the Herberger Institute box office. Buy tickets to obtain your complimentary tickets using your 10-digit ASU ID as the promo code.
