ASU Youth Wind Ensemble 

Inaugural season!

ABOUT

Open to outstanding Arizona high school instrumentalists, the ASU Youth Wind Ensemble will be an approximately 60-75 member wind band. All rehearsals and performances will take place at ASU Gammage and ensemble members will receive instruction from School of Music, Dance and Theatre faculty and graduate students.

TUITION

$225 per academic year

Audition Process

Open to all 9-12 grade students in the 2024-2025 school year.

2. After your application is reviewed, you will be e-mailed the audition etude and an upload link.

3. Members of the 2024 Arizona All-State High School Band or Orchestra are automatically accepted but must still apply. After your application is received, you will be e-mailed the chair placement etude and an upload link.

Applications will be reviewed until positions are filled.

ALL MUSICIANS MUST PARTICIPATE IN THEIR SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAM, IF ONE EXISTS.

REHEARSALS: Mondays - 7:15 to 9:30 p.m.

Fall 2024: October 14, 21, 28, November 4, 18

Spring 2025: January 27, February 3, 10, 24 March 3, 24, 31, April 7

 

CONCERTS

Wednesday, November 20 7:30 p.m. with the ASU Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble

Wednesday, April 9 7:30 p.m. with the ASU Wind Ensemble.

ASU Middle School Honor Band (Grades 7-8) 

Saturday, September 28, 2024, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The ASU Middle School Honor Band is back! Nominate your students for this one-day event that includes guest conductors Erin Cole Steele and Dr. Joyce McCall, instruction from ASU faculty/students, campus tours, and a performance on the stage of ASU Gammage.

General information and registration for 2024 is listed below.

Educators are encouraged to recommend up to 10 motivated students per school who are currently in Grade 7 or 8. With balance as a central factor, we selected at least one student from every school that submits nominations.

Use the nomination link below to nominate your students. The deadline for nominations is August 23, 2024. Notifications will be sent out no later than August 30, 2024.

Cost is $30 per student which includes lunch and a t-shirt.

ASU Events

For ASU Gammage ticketed events, tickets are available for $12 at the ASU Gammage Box Office or can be purchased online at Ticketmaster (fees apply). All students with an ASU, college or school ID receive one complimentary ticket and all Herberger Institute faculty and staff receive two complimentary tickets. Complimentary tickets can be picked up at the box office prior to the event and during all normal business hours.

All Herberger Institute students, faculty and staff and Mirabella residents are eligible for complimentary tickets to most events ticketed through the Herberger Institute box office. Buy tickets to obtain your complimentary tickets using your 10-digit ASU ID as the promo code.
